Mammoth - Upgraded for the future of Ethernet

Mammoth Networks has completed a network upgrade this August that includes expansion in a dozen cities throughout the American West. The core upgrade increases Mammoth's network five-fold, with nine key sites upgraded to 10Gbps fiber including Albuquerque, New Mexico, Billings, Montana and Spokane Washington.

Mammoth contracted with Zayo for access to long-haul fiber, and deployed Brocade equipment in a VPLS configuration. The result is a highly-scalable network focused on low-latency and the most direct routes. Zayo's unique fiber routes in the Rocky Mountain region perfectly complement Mammoth's footprint. Mammoth's network is centered around the least-populated states in the Union, and has a rural market focus.

Prior to the native Ethernet upgrade, Mammoth combined traditional SONET, wave and switched Ethernet services to connect company equipment in these nine core Points of Presence.

"We were excited to complete this project," stated Jeremy Malli, Mammoth's CTO. "We are ready for the next three years of growth, and the focus on latency is key to our Ethernet success." Malli explained the 10Gbps speed upgrades enabled Mammoth to also migrate traditional ATM onto the Ethernet core using pseudowire. Malli relayed, "Our network has layers, supporting everything from Frame Relay to ATM to Ethernet to wave. The fact we stacked ATM onto our Ethernet core with full self-healing capabilities shows how nimble we are."

Mammoth utilizes private network between POPs, allowing their clients to build custom networks across multiple locations, throughout multiple telecom boundaries. Mammoth's project will support Ethernet coverage in three additional states, providing Mammoth's partners access to Ethernet in more than 120 additional cities in Montana, Oregon and Washington.

The network upgrades come at a key time for Mammoth, with company revenues increasing between two and six percent each month. Mammoth's growth has been consistent since early 2008, reflective of the company's network demands and increased Ethernet traffic. The company is pioneering Ethernet aggregation, allowing multiple national, regional and local carriers to talk to each other through Mammoth.

Mammoth acts as a one-stop shop for provisioning, billing and support. The company prides itself in supporting legacy services alongside newer, IP-based services. As a facilities-based aggregator of wholesale data services, Mammoth provides service across the contiguous 48 states and Canada. Mammoth simplifies Wide Area Networking by consolidating multiple access technologies and carriers onto a single network, and delivering to their Partners over a single interface. The privately-held company is based in Gillette, Wyoming.

ZAYO - Growing and competitive..!

ZAYO MARKS 10,000 ON-NET BUILDING MILESTONE
One of North America’s Largest Fiber Networks

LOUISVILLE, Colo. – November 27, 2012 – Zayo Group announces its fiber optic network now extends to more than 10,000 buildings, a milestone reached after six years of organic growth and acquisitions. These locations span 45 states and Washington, D.C. in the United States and seven countries around the world. The network is the foundation for Zayo’s Bandwidth Infrastructure business which has grown to $918M in annualized revenue and $490M in annualized Adjusted EBITDA1.

Customer-driven network expansion has played an important role in the growth of Zayo’s network. This has included included Fiber-to-the-Tower (FTT) deployments, dedicated financial services customer networks, regional education networks and connectivity to most of the country’s key data centers and interconnection points with other carriers. Since its inception, Zayo has invested $446M in property, plant and equipment to extend its network and services for its customers.

“With over 10,000 connected buildings, Zayo’s network is one of the most expansive fiber networks in the U.S. and Europe,” states Glenn Russo, Executive VP at Zayo. “This reach allows us to deliver comprehensive solutions for our customers and provides a foundation to economically expand to many more locations over time.”

Zayo has completed 22 acquisitions with its most recently announced acquisition of First Telecom Services expected to close by the end of 2012. In the second half of 2012, Zayo doubled its network with the July acquisition of AboveNet. Zayo further expanded its reach with the August acquisition of FiberGateand Octoberacquisition of USCarrier. Zayo’s network now covers 67,000 route miles with 4.7M miles of fiber in total.

Centurylink - Data Bundle

Managed Data Bundle and Data Bundle (standard and pro)

Provide your customer with business-grade, highly reliable, IP-bundled solutions with multiple bandwidth and service features: offered in Standard, Pro, and Managed Data Bundle configurations. The standard Data Bundle offers basic networking needs in a simple port, loop and rental CPE solution. The Data Bundle Pro is designed for more complex customer requirements like VPN and secure network routing. Or, upgrade to the ultimate Managed Data Bundle that leaves the difficult task of managing the solution to CenturyLink.

Managed Data Bundle
Provide customers the ultimate solution that leaves the difficult driving to CenturyLink. The engine inside is Network Management Service (NMS) that out-tasks the management of the router to CenturyLink

Top 3 reasons to lead with a Managed Data Bundle Solution:

  1. Single Point of Contact (SPOC) - creating ease in interfacing with CenturyLink and no more being handed off from one group to another OR having to repeat the problem over and over to another repair representative.
  2. Control - We understand the solution is the customer's network and ownership is in the details - we provide read/write access that allows customers to continue to take full advantage of our expertise and service support
  3. Proactive Resolution - through proactive monitoring of the CPE, we are able to identify issues and potential issues faster
Customer wants doesn't want proactive management?

Data Bundle and Data Bundle Pro
Offer a non-proactive "just enough" service option for customers looking for a solution that is preconfigured and delivered with up to 10 configuration changes per year.

One of the key enabling capabilities in delivering secure, scalable and predictable network connections to the cloud has been the availability of Business Ethernet.  tw telecom is
one of the three largest providers of Business Ethernet ports in the U.S. delivering secure, scalable, and predictable network connections.  Utilizing this resilient, nation-wide network,
tw telecom recently launched its Dynamic Capacity bandwidth-on-demand solution for Business Ethernet E-line customers across the country.  Dynamic Capacity, the second phase of the firm's Intelligent Network portfolio, allows customers to immediately double or triple their network capacity in response to business activity peaks and demands, and then return to their original committed base rate as they choose, all without interrupting their network connections or service.
"Imagine being able to increase network capacity in seconds," said Mike Rouleau,
tw telecom Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategy.   "Dynamic Capacity customers don't have to imagine; they do it.  Our MyPortal feature also allows CIOs to see the cost impacts of these changes so the company can budget more closely and allocate costs more efficiently for a marketing promotion or other high bandwidth activity."
"To support the rapid proliferation of networked business applications, IT professionals increasingly need better real time visibility and control of their networks," said Erin Dunne, Director of Research Services, Vertical Systems Group.  "A significant challenge is how to efficiently manage network bandwidth capacity in response to new Cloud apps or changes in existing applications. tw telecom addresses these needs with its Intelligent Network capabilities. Specifically, Dynamic Capacity is a unique capability that enables CIOs to look into their network metrics in real time and then allocate Ethernet bandwidth capacity on-demand."
"The key to mission-critical communications is secure, scalable and predictable network connections," Meldrum said.   "This webinar series explains how enterprises can do this seamlessly between their locations, data centers and clouds."
About tw telecom tw telecom, headquartered in Littleton, Colo., is a leading national provider of managed services, including Business Ethernet, converged and IP VPN solutions for enterprises throughout the U.S. and globally. tw telecom also delivers secure, scalable private connections for transport data networking, Internet access, voice, VPN, VoIP and security to large organizations and communications services companies.
